We now listen to the soothing overture in Kédāragaula rāgam, the USK “Lāli lālayya lāli”. A lullaby in Kédāragaula is indeed rare.

Tyāgayya says:

Oh! one who resides in the heart of good men, oh! one with excellent qualities, oh! one with the Vanamāla – may you rest well!

Oh! one of the Sun clan, one with the hue of the dark clouds, one wearing gold ornaments, one who is resplendent as a ten million suns, one with lotus-like eyes, one who bestowed boons to Akrūra, one with a lotus in the navel, oh one worshipped by Sanaka, one who is easily accessible to all – may you rest well.

Oh! one who wields bows and arrows, oh slayer of Khara, one with red lotus-like feet, oh! destroyer of the arrogance of the evil, one who is praised by Shiva, one whose face resembles the full moon, one whose eyes are filled with compassion, one who is beyond desires, one who is worshipped by sages – may you rest well.

Oh! bestower of boons to Bhūdévi, please accept my worship. You are the prosperity in the households of those who believe in you, is too burdensome for you to glance at me? This separation from you is unbearable, govern me oh wealth of my clan! – may you rest well.

A hall surpassing the splendour of ten million suns has been tastefully decorated. In the centre of the hall, I have spread a bed of pure gold and decorated it with jasmine. Why is your face less cheerful today?

Tell me, are you hungry ?

What is troubling you ?

Is it because,

Your playmates invited you for play. When you had

come, they asked you to go away. They found fault with

you and asked you not to come.

They played the hide and seek game. They complained

that you had eyes too large for being covered by the hand.

Why should my beloved's eyes, which are as soft as lily

petals, be excited and reddened ?

Lest they should close your charming eyes,

my friends warned you not to go.

Why all this trouble and perspiration ?

Tell me the whole story.

.Your hiding may be due to concern (about devotees),

while their hiding may be due to their difficulty in facing

your splendour..

How is it that your pearl-necklaces has

got entangled and how is it that your anklets have pressed

on your legs, leaving a mark?

When I catch you with joy they surround me, crowding

like birds perching on a tree (to release you)
